The Okanagan Hockey Academy is proud to welcome Tyler Kuntz as the new Assistant Coach for the Penticton Lakers.
Kuntz joins the Lakers staff after a successful playing and coaching career. He played five seasons for the UBC Thunderbirds, two as alternate captain, then as team captain in his final year. Kuntz was a recipient of the highly regarded Vancouver Canucks Alumni Scholarship and graduated with a degree in Human Kinetics. He went on to play professional hockey in Europe with Huegelsheim ESV and played in the CHL with the Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Thunder.
Following his pro career, Kuntz decided to turn to coaching. He became Assistant Coach with the UBC Thunderbirds and ran their summer hockey programs. Last season he joined the Coquitam Express as Assistant Coach.
“Tyler has played and coached at a level that we’d like to see our players get to,” said Evan Marble, Head Coach and GM of the Penticton Lakers. “He understands what it takes to get to that next level. His experience in reaching his goals will help our guys do the same.”
