OHA's Lazar Snags Top Honour

OHA player Curtis Lazar has been named the recipient of the 2010 Hockey Now/BC Hockey Hall of Fame Minor Hockey Player Achievement Award.

The 15 year old Vernon, B.C. native spent last season as captain of Kelowna's Pursuit Bantam AAA team. While there he collected an impressive 115 points in 51 games, and was also named MVP at two Bantam tournaments in Canada.

The award is handed out annually to a B.C. player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, leadership, and hockey skill.

Lazar is the second Oil King prospect to receive the award, 2009 first round Bantam Draft pick Griffin Reinhart took home the honour last year. Reinhart went on to have a successful 2009-10 midget season and was named to the 2009-10 BC Major Midget All-Star Team.

Other past winners of this award include: Chicago Blackhawk Colin Fraser, Washington Capital Karl Alzner, and Edmonton Oiler Gilbert Brule.

Lazar will receive his award on July 23 at the BC Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Celebration in Penticton.
