Okanagan Hockey Academy is extremely excited to have our players participate in our second annual Relay for Life this year on May 29th, 2010.
During this non-competitive event, teams of OHA players will take turns walking or running laps around the Penticton High School track. The event runs from 6:00pm-6:00am, and players will be divided into teams to cover a 4-hour shifts.
This year the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life will bring together 53 communities in BC and the Yukon who are committed to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and empower individuals and communities to fight back against cancer. The money that is raised through Relay for Life is used to fund outstanding cancer research, cancer prevention initiatives, advocacy for healthier communities; provide comprehensive cancer information and deliver caring support programs to people with cancer, their families and caregivers.
In order to facilitate fundraising, Relay for Life has set up a website to be able to donate. OHA has entered 5 teams and the players have signed on underneath their respective teams. Click here to visit the website.
Scroll down to locate the OHA teams about halfway down the page. Click on the team name to whom your player belongs, once there click on the person you are looking to support with an online donation. This will take you to their individual page where you can enter a donation amount and then click continue to carry on with completing the transaction.
As you will see it will keep a running total of the team and the individual player.
Please send this link out to family and friends to support the players in this endeavour: http://tinyurl.com/2a6d7ld.
